When did you introduce the sippy cup?

So I just got an e-mail from one of my online groups that said "Okay, your baby is turning 6 months old, time to introduce the sippy cup so they have time to master it."

HUH! My baby just got the knack of holding her bottle, and what the heck would I put in the sippy cup, formula? She doesn't drink anything but formula....

What the heck! When did you guys start your kids on sippy cups, and what did you put in them?

I started introducing the sippy cup to my daughter around 7 months, with just a little water or juice in it.
She is almost 12 months now, and she still hasn't mastered it. She usually just chews on the spout and only sucks on it intermittently. We give her a sippy cup with water everyday, but she still prefers bottles.

I started my little guy at around 10 months. But, with that being said he JUST started drinking from them exclusively at 13 months. He just started holding his bottle at 11 months, and since he just gets the sippy cup now he wants mommy to hold it for him But you know when your baby is ready and the Ped told me that they need to be off the bottle by 15 months so your fine as far as that goes. Just make sure to brush his teeth with baby gum cleanser. Oh and I put formula, juice, and water in his cup

Its best to introduce it when you think she will be able but usually it would be around a year when she would be able to grasp the handles

6 Months is the perfect age hey i suggest you start him/her on the sippy cup so when it comes to leaving the bottle it won't be hard That is why some mothers start their kids on the sippy cup. =) plus when you buy the sippy cup it says recommended for 6 months and up you can put baby juice i buy my kid the green gerber one he likes it or you canjust put formula.

When we started solids i started a sippy cup so they were 6 months of age. I would put about 2oz of water in it and give it to them with their meals. They are 1 now and arent proficient with them but they are using them during the day.

Its really just to get them used to it. Even if you give it and she just plays with it thats fine as you just want to introduce her to it right now.

if she can hold her bottle she can hold a sippy. i put water and formula in it. she learned to use a sippy by the time she was 8 months and she didnt want the bottle after 10 months. everything went into the sippy. its never to late to start her on water. water never hurt anyone.... give her water.
