Since I started working as an MT I have had 2 incidents where I misplaced my wedding rings because I take them off just before starting work.  I'd like to buy a plain, narrow, wedding band to wear at all times and I'm wondering of any of you wear a plain band while you work?  Is it comfortable and can it be felt by the client?    Thanks.

Before I got married I wore rings while working and never had a problem.  Now my engagement ring is too high and is hard to work with.  It only took me one time working on someone to realize that wearing it wouldn't work.I place my engagement and wedding rings on the antenna of my cell phone (in my purse) when I am not at home and when I am at home I make sure to put it in the same place every time.  My suggestion:  Make a routine out of where you place them and hopefully you won't misplace them again.

I believe it depends on what type of therapy you're providing the client. Hands on type therapy, I wouldn't recommend it because there is always the possibility that the client is feeling the ring (they may or may not say anything but still not appreciate that it's there).If you do massage work generally everyday from say like 9-5, I would remove it before heading to work, placing it in a jewelry box with other jewelry. Then slip it back on when coming home/back from work.Just my input....thanks for sharing! Be well,Jen

I just put the ring with my keys when I work and that way I always know where it is.   And it happens to be on sale right now.  bonus!  Joe E.

I always wear an apron when doing massage, and put my ring in the pocket of the apron.

My advice, don't wear it.One tug on a hair is all a client will remmeber.You are also harboring bacteria under the ring.Do what we do in the OR.  Wear it either on a chain or on the ties of your scrub pants.Keep it close.  Cherish it. It is important.  Just please don't wear it on your hands during massage.Robyn

Hi.I always wear them on a chain around my neck.  Mine are white gold, so I first had this "issue" with my chain being yellow gold and not matching. *chuckles*OK --- so I got over that one pretty quick.    I like to keep them on the chain, because I feel more balanced when they are on me, but to be honest, I sure do like Joe's idea.  And will definitely get one of those for my husband.  He usually puts his in a pocket or near his keys, so that would be a real neat thing for him.Cool idea!Thanks for the input everyday.  You never know when something that seems simple to you, is something I never thought about!!!!As far as the client feeling the rings, I never had that problem, but I do have a problem with my fingers swelling more if I keep them on.

Two solutions:One is to fashion a tiny "purse" that you can wear around your neck for rings.  While in school there was a lady who made them from beadwork.  Very nice - very expensive.I personally have a small model of the Hatteras lighthouse that I keep my rings on.--Jenna

I agree with SDBliss.  Days that i do massage i do not wear my ring.  My wife understands the reasoning behind my decision and trusts me enough that i won't go running around just because I don't wear my ring.

i have my little system that works for me because i lose everyting my husband says if my head wasnt attached...i always wear them to work and put all my rings on my wach in my purse so i dont have to look for all my rings individually in the bottom of my purse. but that little key thing is really cool i just showed my husband and he totoaly dug it. but im not to sure because i lose my keys more than any thing. ( i have 2 sets of keys so i can always at least find one sometimes my hubby has the spare and he gets mad when i steel his because most of the time he just got his set back the day before.)

I always wear mine, like the other person said, my classmates never felt it.  I wash and dry around it after each client, so the bacteria isn't too big an issue.  Always think good thoughts...mick

I dislike it when any Therapist has rings, bracelets, ankle bracelets, necklaces or anything else that I can hear or feel during my treatment, just as I dislike smelling perfume, smoke or other odors. It is a matter of not wanting to be distracted by anything or to feel uncomfortable.I don't want my Therapist to wear any rings at all. Also, I dislike it when I can feel even a bit of a nail. It is ridiculous to me when "Therapists" have any fingernails that could be clipped.

Another option...friends of mine who are husband and wife, and both therapists, have their rings tatooed on their fingers so they're always on.   I'd be really sure before I tired this one.  Enjoy   Joe E.

I used to put my rings around the band of my watch, in my purse.  I have gotten a new watch & the band is too wide so that won't work.  Last week when I was giving a fellow MT a massage, they fell out of my pocket and she found them as she was dressing.  What a scary feeling.  I love the little key chain thing.  Gonna have to get one.

Again, a reply to a post that's months old... I have several really neat necklaces that I like to wear depending on which scrub top I have on. (They're all patterned and colorful.) I always put my wedding and engagement ring on the necklace. I don't like to be without it. It doesn't make noise when I work, and I know I won't lose it or have to be without it.

Joe, that key ring thing is great!! I'm glad someone revived this post, because I might not have seen it otherwise! I plan on wearing any rings I have on a chain or necklace, but as a student I can't wear anything around my neck while being worked on. I do have a locker and a purse with a zippered pocket where I was planning to keep jewelry during technique class. Yesterday we had a girl come into our anatomy class looking for her wedding ring that she'd lost sometime during the day. She looked so distraught! I felt terrible for her. I guess it's something that happens a lot.

I like the tatoo idea too. I take my band off and put it in my pocket but I am always afraid of losing it and I also take it off to put lotion on etc at home I set it down adn then I can't find it. Hmmm Don't think DH would get a matching tat though so it kind of takes the uniqueness out of it.
