Adjustments to the tone of the message maybe in order, but complacency is far more dangerous. We know that trouble is here and worse is coming. Perhaps things will fizzle out but it costs you very little to be aware of what is going on and to be cautious. If you are adult enough to be on this forum then you are adult enough to be exposed to different points of view. And as I have already said, nothing would make me happier than to be completely wrong.

It's one thing to bring up actual statistics of cases that already exist and deaths that have already happened. What's completely unacceptable is fear mongering and sensationalism. People need a message of hope, not a grim forecast of how bad things will be in the long run. People are losing their businesses, jobs and homes over this. They want to believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel through all this bullshit. They want to believe that the loss of their livelihood was only a temporary price to be paid to flatten the curve and that none of these sacrifices were done in vain.

Some people just get off on negativity. They want to be vigilant about the precautions that must be taken to fight the virus but could care less how long it takes to do so. They're fixated only on the disease with very little regard for the financial ruin it will cause most people. Unless you have alternative solutions to their inability to generate income at this time, shut the fuck up. If you want to prey on others' fears, shut the fuck up. We're all eating a shit sandwich. The last thing we need is brainless and unfounded speculation.

Respectfully, I disagree. I am not an outsider to all this. So far I have lost $25,000 in revenue, which is a lot for me. I am scrambling to survive this, and I will, but it is not easy. You may have the appropriate level of awareness, but I fear that many people think this is a temporary inconvenience.

I feel your pain and I was not targeting you. Obviously there will be effects brought about by this shut down but we want to believe they won't be so bad to where our economy is irreversibly damaged. We want our favourite establishments back. We want our jobs back. We want our daily routines back. If the consequences are so irreparable, then what are we doing all of this for? If there is nothing to look forward to, no reward for the risk we're taking now, what's the point of even trying to flatten the curve? We must get something out of this raw deal we were dealt. We must get our livelihoods back and China must pay a very steep price for ruining our lives!
