Thai Kick boxing

Hi - we arrive in 3 weeks and one of the items on our bucket list is to go to a Thai Kick Boxing tournament.
We have heard that they have bouts on Friday nights ?

1. Is it on Friday's
2. Is it easy to find or just ask at hotel
3. do you buy tickets or just pay at the door ?
4. what is the approx cost ?

I don't know that they are Muay Thai Tournaments as such, but there is Muay Thai in a couple of stadiums in Patong, with something going several times a week. You will know all about it from loudspeaker trucks going around advertising, as well as posters and fliers. You'll be able to find out the details soon enough when you arrive.

The fights feature boxers from Thailand and other countries, various weights, and male and female categories. Quite a few foreigners come to train in Phuket at one of several gyms. The fights give them a moment of glory after all their training.

I used to know a woman who started in the ring in Patong, and went on to become a world champ

Jonan you will be sick and tired of hearing these words by the end of your 3 weeks. Its almost impossible not to know what time and where the Matches are taking place.

I went in April to Patong Stadium. there were 8 fights -4 of them were between 13-17 year olds............. bit disappointed.... better kickboxing in Melbourne..

having said that, I will go again!!! haha

I had a great time there , I got my tickets the across the road from Jungecylon Mall Entrance it was a little stall on the side of the road I asked for a discount and recieved one but cant remember what it cost, there is a couple of Indian guys there hassling you for a bet dont do it as I am sure they know who is going to win

if your staying in Bangers at all id visit the Lumpinee Stadium, for a more real experience

the stadium in sai nam yen is probably the better one for more authentic fights.

they are on mon and thursday nights.

Stadium seat 1,300 Baht

don`t worry you`ll get the inevitable flyer if you`re in Patong for any length of time.

I went in March. It was a great experience and some brutal fights.
I took a girl who got in for free, being a Thai National... but some boxer stopped me on the street outside and sold me a ticket for 800 Baht. Not bad when they were charging other people up to 1500 baht. Just ask around for tickets and compare your prices.
