Safety in the RLD of Frankfurt.

This area is safe - much safer than large cities in USA. Just use common sense and stay out of the strip bars.

The ambience is very good and the freedom to enjoy yourself there is a welcome relief. Have fun!

Hello everyone,

I am visiting next week May 25 & May 26. I am staying at the airport and I know my way to the Frankfurt Main station. Anyone can give me some ideas of where the FKKs are so that I can avoid the RLD this time around. Thank you fory our advice in advance. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

It's all pretty much the same: Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Duesseldorf, etc. Just use common sense. Alot of you guys are making an issue out of nothing. Don't be paranoid, just go and enjoy. Your biggest danger is you will spend too much money on the girls in the FKKs!

I am like 5'10 120lbs...I look like Justin Beiber but even more young. I want to travel here but I'll be alone. Am I going to be safe? Is this crazy?

Im worried about.

1. Staying hotel in RLD

2. Using RLD at night? Only safe during day but only ugly girls?

3. Returning from FKK safely at night? Should I use taxis?

I live in Germany myself and I seriously think you are totally overexagerating this whole thing. Heck, even the Reeperbahn in Hamburg can be dangerous at night if you bump into the wrong person, like e.g. a bunch of drunken idots that are looking for trouble. But so can any other city all over the world. I'm not a huge person myself, but when I do go mongering in RLD around the world, I tend to always
a) know the way I am going and don't ask for directions
b) have a really grimy look on my face, try it, it does make people tend to leave you alone if thats what you want

I do howver agree that Turks/Arabs in Germany can act slightly strange and especially rude. They sometimes tend to be trouble makers. But if you look selfconcious and not scared, people tend to always leave you alone.

The main problem in Frankfurt's RLD is the fact that there are junkies there, which automatically leads to crime and problems. On the other hand, brothel owners tend to make sure ethings are peacefull in and near their places. I'd say FRA RLD is comparable to Amsterdam, I'd expect more junkies in Amsterdam actually.

So far I have been mongering in Amsterdam and Dusseldorf and no problems with crime or anything so far. Can anyone say or guess how is the security situation in FRA compared to these other two cities. I personally felt safer in Adam , a lot of police presence there , but on the other hand I wasnt there during the weekend. Nor in DUS.

So what if I want to check out the RLD area for sex near my hotel....I read that the most attractive girls work nights BUT if its unsafe to wander at night then try during day? BUt during day less girls and more ugly?

Im a 1st timer travelling alone. Im kinda small guy and not used to big citites etc. Mayeb I should avoid RLD altogether except for the budget hotels? Stick too FKK and use taxi at night? BUt then much money lost?

Let me put it this way: Frankfurt is probably no more dangerous than Moscow or New York or any other major city in the US or EU. So I don't know why everyone here is making a fuss about how dangerous Frankfurt is.


If you want a decent hotel, try this IBIS:

Rates should be about 60-70 Euro per night, but if there is an expo (German = Messe), then it gets really expensive. The pros on this hotel is that it has a S-Bahn station (not Metro but overground train) right outside which also happens to be the end station. You can take that train right to the Frankfurt Central station without changing trains, which is good in case you don't know your way around.

IMHO taking Metro or the other public transportation is normally totally safe. Don't be drunk however, but I guess it s arule of the thumb that anyone totally drunk easily gets ripped off, regardless of which country they are in.

I plan to go to FKK via public transport and stay in RLD area budget hotels.

I have read here the various routes to use.

SO yo are saying its not safe?

Is it fien to use public transoprt daytime eg. 3-6pm to go there and then wiser to get taxi back?

I read its like 60 eruos though for taxi from oase to RLD and only 10 Euro if you go via train.

Palace is a 5 euro on train and 10-15 euro taxi?

Atleast Rossija and Elbe had gotten really really bad reviews. Someone even claims that the staff on Elbe stole cash from his room. Plus the area at night is not very safe...

One point to be added to what Steve has said already:

When going mongering in Germany, always stay sober. It pays off when you have the situation under control.
Drunks are a welcome invitation for a rip-off.
