Is TJ Still Worth It?

I am not talking about the bars or SW's.

If you want great service for 2 hours at a decent location in TJ they are asking:

$300 for 2 hours with girl (escort service prices quoted to me for the GFE service I want)
$40 for me for gas.
$10 parking at border
$18 for hotel
$7 for taxi
All the TJ/border BS.
Total time is at least 7 hours from my door, to pussy, back to my door.

I have been down there, but I won't go back.
It is not worth it at all for me as I can get the same service they offer for less in the OC with several providers within 20 minutes of my house.

That was a great well rounded trip report. BTW I was wondering why nobody had mentioned this taco restaurant in the corner. At first I thought the guys around here were talking about this restaurant because the customers have the option to sit on some stools by the windows. Now I haven't gone in or anything but I think they were stools. Unless they were really tall chairs. Anyways I'm really horrible lol. The only way I'll know if something is new in La Zona is if they had a "new" sign hanging somewhere in plain sight. For all I know this restaurant probably does lol.

So, I visited TJ for the first time since 2010 this past Friday. I arrived in the afternoon and left around 11 pm.

TJ has changed, some things for the better and some things for the worse.

Better -
less foot traffic, less car traffic, less quantity of mongers in Zona Norte.
God bless the narco wars because the wrong public perception is keeping out the dumbasses. The girls have to work harder because the male clientele is lower. The crowds are not what they used to be.


Worse -
Chicago Club is dead as a doorknob. I checked it out. It was empty. I don't know how the owners pay their electric and water bill. The place had less than 8 girls working and like only 2 mongers in there. CC is quite a shame compared to its hey day when it would rival AB.

AB - girls rarely now dance at AB. And when they do, they want the tip money with no touching of their assets. If the whore wants a dollar tip, then they have to earn it. If I did not want to touch the strippers, then I would go to a USA strip club. Ridiculous, when a girl wants a dollar from me, I expect them to be touched.

I usually just grab their boobies slightly, or slap their ass, etc.... But for the stripper to simply demand a dollar with no touching, then that's offensive. How is a customer expected to purchase the wares without inspection?

Street Action
The street walkers have grown in quantity and quality. Some of the girls are very attractive now. However, they seem to have grown younger which doesn't really interest me....

All in all, I like the Mexican President's war on drugs because TJ is more enjoyable with less males there to compete against.

PS. If you exit AB, turn left and go to the corner, there's a new taco restaurant on the corner. Looks new and clean. I did not sample their wares but it looks good.

Sorry but having lived in Guatemala for a few months and having family there I question that finding TJ is mild compared to Guate I question that you worked there and actually drove when was this? The traffic is terrible in Guatemala especially in the center of the city near zona 7 and el DF is also worse you must have not stayed long, TJ is easy compared to the others, also dont know if you haven't noticed but there are nice cars in Mexico not everyone is poor, or drives beat up cars. I have seen Mercedes, new Chrysler's, Corvettes if you have lived in Latin America you should know this? The people who have money in Latin America have allot of it, along with expensive tastes in cars. I always laugh at the fact that people think that every single person in Latin America is poor or that there are no expensive cars. Yes I agree that if you do not know the area then yes it can be dangerous especially if you pull into an area that is really bad. Oh and again for a quick Zona trip yes I agree take a cab at nite especially that I completely agree with, also if you dont know the area or speak the language or dont have someone who is familiar with the area then yes dont drive in TJ. But in my case when I go to the zona rio or Rosarito and plan on making several stops than I skip using a cab, as do many friends that I know who go.

I have walked to La Zona or taken a cab 100's of times. I never got hasseled once (okay I'm sort of looking for a fight but whatever). If you make it to the cab stand outside of the border crossing it is completely safe to travel to La Zona by cab.

I don't know if I'm getting used to the way cab drivers drive or maybe I'm getting the better drivers now. At first I used to be like watch it man. The funny thing is that last time my cab driver was honking like crazy in Revolucion because traffick wasn't moving. Let me add that he was the only one honking.

I was like what the hell is wrong with this guy? I want to be as low key as possible but this guy was doing the opposite. As you can imagine some people were staring. I guess the guy was working hard for a tip. At least his driving skills were okay.

Never ever drive into TJ. I have taken taxi cabs only. Believe it or not. I have been in two accidents with pscycho taxi drivers. They see there is traffic but they accelerate instead. I got injured in one of them. If I did not put my hand against the dash and windshield , I would have flew through it. Now, you got two cars damaged badly. The cops come. They dont ask if you are injured, they look at the cars and converse a little bit, then they leave. Everyone has to fix his own car and his own bones. No matter whose fault it is. Now, I tell taxi cab drivers, please drive slow. I am no hurry. If you drive fast then let me out now.

Well for us is not worth driving into TJ. We go from point A to point B and that's it. Take into account the 1-2 hours+ in line to come back and it just doesn't make sense. Then they think TJ is really dangerous so why they drive their car across the border is beyond me.

I just think that we don't need to be driving across the border. I hate to say it but is kind of begging for an accident. We could just park on this side, get a cab and take it from there.

I am sure that can apply to many, but I have alot of experience driving through latin America in general, Guatemala City for example is worse than TJ will ever be, I have driven through Mexico down to guatemala, to el salvador, so I know the general latin american signs pretty well. Cabs can be expensive when tasked with longer distances or multiple stops and waiting. They can in some areas be riskier since some like in Guatemala have been afilliated with robbery rings. I exercise as much common sense and dont buy into everything the media potrays, but yes knowing the area you are traversing is important, just like in certain parts of LA are less than ideal to pass through. Like I said not for everyone but in my case if I feel I am going to make several stops to pick up friends and their friends and check out several antros in TJ, then maybe go for food etc I really dont care for a cab. If its a go monger it trip to the HK or Zona then thats different.

My buddies are very inconsistent when it comes to this. They are very paranoid about what they read in the newspapers or see on the news. They think that every time we make a trip to La Zona this might be the day we don't come back. I believe this is how they feel. I see it in their body language, the way they talk about the dangers, and so forth. I know they are not kidding.

On the other hand they drive way too much over the border. This really isn't consistent with characteristics of people who are afraid of TJ. The only way I can explain it and I think I'm right is that they see driving over the border as something necessary so this makes them in the right. But driving straight to La Zona is not something they see as necessary.

I completely disagree with their views because I think there's no reason whatsoever to drive to other side of the border. That's what the cabs are for or even walking. And for all we know we might be driving straight into a dangerous area. A taxi driver would know which areas to avoid and my buddies and me don't know.

The irony in all of this is that they think I'm making a big mistake when I go to La Zona alone. They think I'm walking straight into my grave. And I think they are making a big mistake by driving to the other side of the border. In both cases I would be screwed because I'm present in both scenarios.

Exactly I guess I will make a correction to my original post I take my car in not for a quick zona visit but for an extended stay where I will frequent clubs in zona rio with actual chica friends that I have over there I save money on cabs and parking and I can go to playas but for a quick monger trip a cab is ideal

I would say that you are right if a guy is just spending a day. If you are staying several days you can save lots of dough on parking in a secure lot and keep valuables in your trunk. If you are adventurous then you can also save on taxi fares.

There really is no valid reason to drive to la Zona. It is a very short walk or just take a $5 taxi ride. You can even take the bus for less than a dollar.

As for driving your vehicle into Mexico, the worst parts of that are having to buy Mexican insurance and having to get back across the border. The drivers in TJ are worse than the States but no where near as bad as some other countries I have been to. If you are doing the tourist thing, you can take a combi or a bus to Rosarito or Ensenada for dirt cheap and just not have to deal with the hassle of driving. The last time I took a combi (a small bus about the size of a van) last summer to Rosarito, I think the cost was somewhere around 20 pesos which is less than $2.

One method of transportation I was pondering was a small motorcycle. You can zip up the SENTRI line and then move on over into the normal travel lanes. The U.S. and Mexican insurance is very, very cheap. However, one of our brethren was struck down on his motorcycle last year but a careless driver and after listening to his story, I was disabused of this idea. Besides, since I got my SENTRI pass, the problem of border waits is a thing of the past for me. You walk straight to the front of the line, Fellow Mongers! There is nothing like it. It is better than a blow job, that's for sure.

Well of course you can have an injury accident in Mexico. Most accidents are within 5 miles of your home however. I would never recommend not to buy insurance, I was simply saying it is not required by law. Bad things can happen in a taxi....bad things can happen if you walk....bad things can happen if your child goes to school at Columbine High School....

It's just me, but I would never drive a car over the boarder that I expect to be driving back home over the boarder if I'm going to the Zona. You guys can tell me about how many times you've driven over there and nothing bad happened but, It will not change my view. Other bad things can happen, an injury accident? Then you will know the definition of FUCKED!

yes I still show it anyways, to hint at them that I know whats going on, I always make sure I buy a policy if I'm taking in my car for peace of mind. But thanks for letting me know that anyways just in case for some reason I forget to buy a policy before leaving

You do know that Mexican insurance is not required by law right? They should not being asking for proof of insurance unless you are in an accident.
