I just went to look at your Facebook page, and on it you mentioned

"After the Bridge Run Ride
Positive NRG Therapeutic Massage will be available for post event massage at Blackbaud Stadium."

I couldn't click on the link, it wanted me to sign in and I don't have a FB account.

I'd like to know- how did this event go? We're looking into doing something like this at the end of the summer- a new toll bridge is being built connecting our area to "across the lake", and they're going to have a 5K run/family fun walk across it before opening it to vehicular traffic/ Was it fun? Worth it? Please tell me more!

Wow, I just saw this! Sorry it took me so long to reply.

The event drew about 500 cyclists. There was a group of about 10 LMTs assembled by the guy who worked with the organizers. Were were to receive 70% of the take fpr the clients we worked on, and the organizer made sure that we all got our fair share.

It was pretty slow. The fee was $1/minute (standard for this area) and on tables, not in chairs. I made $61.

But the value for me was in meeting other MTs from my area. I'm big into networking, and I am trying to get a group together both virtually and physically just to hang and discuss things like we do here on this board.

It was fun. I'd do it again.

:iagree: It was slow for the 10 of us, but fun none the less. we each got to work on about 4 clients in the 4+ hours we were there. Meeting other local therapists was fun, and being worked on by the other therapists was excellent! It's just too bad the event was talked up so we were all expecting a mass rush of cyclists to work on. :roll: oh well.

We have asked the lady in charge of setting up the vendors to talk to "the committee" about maybe setting up a "runners' massage tent" at the end point, and letting us get several other MT's in the area together to provide services to the runners. Not sure whether it'd end up being a "volunteer/business promotion" thing or if we'd actually get to charge.

The other option would be for us and our tenant to just go in together to buy the 10'x10' booth and charge for giving chair massages, as at any other venue.

The one thing that could throw a monkey wrench into either option, now, is my new little "development", lol. I don't know how well I'll be able to work outside in the middle of the summer, nor if I'll even have the energy to pull anything that big together by then. Time will tell!
