Decorating your ceiling

I was at a craft warehouse and the one gift shop had silk vines and silk ivy (maybe hydrangas too) intertwined with mini white lights which was all hung parallel to the ceiling.  It looked so nice.  I was thinking of doing something like that in my therapy room (it is a sunroom in a country setting).  Does anyone have the ceiling of their massage room decorated?Any pros or cons?

I have a simple canopy of a calming, semi-sheer fabric. A rectangle, really, with beads hanging from each corner.In my reception area I covered my 1x4 ft flourescent lights with a dark brown box frame with bamboo matchstick table runners stretched over the lighted openings.Jill/Sagetherapist

I think the stars show up better with dimmed, relaxing lights. I think he sold kits, too. Just another choice...and less to collect dust?  ;D

Those are awesome! I remember that old topic. There were kits, I think too. A friend here on the board used draping of materials with strings of small white Christmas lights behind them. That was cool too!Jill/sagetherapist

Wow Gute!  Nice pics.  I worked in a spa once that had the ceilings all hand painted.I am going to go back to the warehouse and take a closer look at what they have done there.  Can't possibly be that difficult to do.The draped fabric sounds nice too Jill.Anyone have a link for the painting kits?

I have fabric hanging to cover my ceiling also.  I would think twice before hanging any kind of vines or "fake plant" type of thingy.  I say that because that stuff collects a crap-load (yes, that's a technical term) of dust and there is no easy way to clean it.  With fabric, you can take it down, toss it in the washer and dryer and hang it right back up.   Just something to think about....

Just a word of caution for those of you with fabric on your walls or ceiling....You may want to double check to be sure your space is not in violation of local fire codes.

I have my ceiling decorated with a draped scarf effect that comes in from the four corners of the room to the center of the ceiling -- directly over my table.  I found an awesome deal at a discount fabric shop on ivory wedding satin.  I found two scarf brackets that I've attached to the ceiling using velcro and four matching aqua glass beaded pullbacks which hold the fabric in place in the corners.It really lends a lot of softness to the room.  I have received many compliments from clients (both men and women) who notice it as soon as they turn supine plus there are people who just stop in to see the room when the door is open between appts that think it is really neat.

For everyone, generally, it is not beyond means. Whether or not you are artistic, there are kits, and there's the alternative of hiring/swapping massage with a talented kid from a local art school. Mural artists love a challenge and the chance to show their work.   Just ask to view a portfolio.

Has anyone found any more info on painting a ceiling to look like the sky?  I found a website to describe how to make stars and comets etc, but I am not sure where to find the paint cheaply.  I found one website selling a gallon for 100 bucks!  A little costly for me.This is all I think about!    I would love to lay on a massage table with a ceiling that looked like the sky.  How relaxing!Thanks for reading.Cindy

not your ordinary ceiling tiles

They have beautiful ceiling tiles. They are specially designed and extremely unlike the ugly dropped ceiling tiles that we are are all accustomed to. I plan on replacing my ceiling tiles in my rented room with these. The nice thing is, that when I move, I can take them with me and put them in another building. They will end up costing me about $4 to $5 per tile, but I think they will be worth it.

The best part is they are translucent!! They fit right over the lights and the whole ceiling will glow because the light will spill over into the surrounding tiles.

I did my walls and ceiling in clouds, using the woolie system at Home Depot. There is a video and instructions along with woolie so you can do this quite easily.
