Derrick May was also scheduled to play at Seduction on 8th December, but that got cancelled. Either way with the like of Jo Mills at Club Lime on 1st Dec, Lil Louie Vega at Seduction on 11th, then Barry Ashworth (MySpace.com - Dub Pistols - West London, UK - Hip Hop / Breakbeat / Ska - www.myspace.com/thedubpistols) and Inland Knights (dropmusic) at Club Lime on 22nd and 29th respectively, could there actually be quality dance music coming to Phuket???

So how was it... I bowed out in the end as spinner had a social BBQ planned on the Sat and didnt want to be out. Kinda gutted but hey.

I did get one SMS's saying 'choonage' or similar !!

Also anyone know if soundwave are going to kick off thier sunday beach sessions ?? Or have any contacts for them ?? Cos thats nice and close to me now.

Was it really on Friday night? If so I’m utterly disappointed. Thought I’d give Seduction another go. Haven’t been for months, and now I know why…

Had a peek at 11 and I was the only one there. And then I mean the only one. Came back at 1 and it was still spook town; shadows of people hugging the corners, but hardly anyone on boogie street. Too bad really, as I’m getting somewhat fed up with the Patong scene (if you can call it that)… Is there no place that can feature some decent dance music and still attract at least half a crowd? How is it that Samui can and Phuket cannot? Younger (non-mongering) tourists ok, but still… Are we really this un-hip h:

Ended up in Tai Pan and had a decent time, even though I think I know the lyrics of every tune played by now (even the Thai ones).

How Seduction can make a buck is really beyond me. True, I did predict last year that they wouldn’t make it through the low season, but they somehow have. Although not without a loss I suspect (?). And now there’s a second floor disco? At least start by giving me a choice of beverage and try advertising the “events” a bit better (there was no mention of this even on their website). Should be possible to gather a crowd at least once a month. Shouldn't it?

And I totally agree on the music scene here, not just bars and discos but day to day music in restaurants, beach bars and hangouts. I dont understand why this is really. You go to Bali, a pace with no internet in parts, grinding poverty, head to the tiny remote places in the north (lovina) or over to lombok and the gili islands and you stop for a drink in a beach shack and they have morcheba, leftfield, K&D type chill tunes on.. Perfect match for a beach bar vibe. Why do they seem to have some musical tastes that are up to date and yet phuket with its farang population, net ability, access to music cant get it together.

I have long said that a bar outside of nanai, that had a bit of space and room with nice seating (think beach house on nanai) could really work something as simple as a good MP3 collection into being the best sounding place to relax in the daytime in town. I am not alone in this thinking judging by the talk I have with other (especially under 40) expats and visitors.

Dont know about Brandon at Seduction, but do know that it went off at Club Lime last Saturday with Jo Mills. People dancing on the furniture and goin mad to Jo's electro house sound.
That was until a crazy chick threw a glass of red wine over the mixer and CDJ.
This Saturday they have dj Octo from BED & Q-bar BKK, with his magical mix of soul, funk, rare grooves and old skool hip-hop.
3 days later Lil Louie Vega at Seduction.
Cant be bad can it?
