advice on meridians

Hi all,
Just need some knowledge really in hope in shedding some light on a client. I was taught through chakras while learning reflexology, but it seems to leave me flawed on a few things when dealing with a client and was just wondering whether interpreting through meridians would make things clearer.
I just wondered what the right foot through zone 3 and 4 over lapping the small intestine/ ascending colon, and tension in toes 4 and 5 in right foot, and 3rd toe left foot related to?

When you say meridians, are you referring to the Chinese meridian system or the longnitudal (sp) zones as described in most reflexology textbooks?

Perhaps you are looking for an emotional link through the gall bladder meridian - excess chi could result in rash decisions and angry outbursts while depleted chi could result in indecision and timidity (ref.Inge Dougans). Otherwise look for eye problems, migraine, frozen shoulder, gynae probs, hip pain or shingles which overlap with the obvious reflexology longtitudinal zones and foot map indications!

Thanks for responding, I think I mean Chinese meridians, there is a hip problem, but I was thinking more along the lines of some sort of emotional blockage guardedness and self protection and didn't know whether this would correlate with one of these philosophies, there is a link through the chakra's, but just wanted to know what other thoughts were out there. The emotional links cozy refered to just don't seem to correlate with the character of my client, and none of the other suggestions apart from the hip applies!

Hip problems are usually associated with the Gallbladder meridian which goes down the lateral length of the leg and terminates in the 4th toe.

He may just have a physical hip problem, and that's that. But I know want you mean. Liver/GB energy is associated with movement/inflexability/lack of direction in life. But that's just basic idea to work from, not necessarily cut in stone. Do you know point GB40, in the (almost but not quite) frontal dip of the lateral malleolus? Good point for hip issues, becareful about pressure as it can be a sensitive spot.

PS, added note: GB40 isn't traditionally a hip point but within the reflexology paradigm it makes sense (at least to me). And I should of said anterior and inferior to the lateral (external) malleolus, in the dippy bit. Nice to know want other symptoms he has.

Thanks for that, very interesting, and would definetly like to learn more about the meridians, will try and look up the point and try it out in the next session. They are an interesting case, but I'm a bit worried about saying to much about the client.
