Paying for drinks...

Hey guys,
I have been reading the forum for a while now and i have read on a few different threads about people paying there bill at the bar. I was wondering if you are able to pay for your drink up front each time you go to the bar?
I'm off in a few weeks and am ready to run a muk.

I have noticed the BM's just ignore the questions that have been answered before. One yesterday about recommending a hotel stayed at 1 post all day.

i usually look at the pot every time i get a drink,this keeps me happy.i dont like some of the bars down bangla that dont even give you a pot,they have someone out back adding it all up.i have had dodgy bills on numerous occassions,hence i stop using them.only one i trust nowadays is u2 bar.and thats only cos i am normally drinking with the owner and get on well with him.
i dont recall having a problem anytime in soe eric,not even a worry,but tiger is iffy.and soi lion just downright expensive,

Its fine to run up a tab as along as you are in control and roughly know how many drinks you have had. To pay one by one is fine, but you will be perceived as another cheap, tight azzed Ozzie tourist to the bar scene.

tbh i find paying individually works out more expensive.
usually if i just have 1 heineken at a bar its 80 baht but i usdually leave 100 baht note and tell them to keep change.if i stay for a long time at a bar drinking heinekens i wouldnt end up leabing as much of a tip.

This is another good point. Why tip with every drink when you can just give them one decent tip at the end of your session?. This will save you money.

Thanks for all of the replies guys, it has helped a lot. I think it was "Big Mitch" that said if i do decide to pay for my drinks one at a time, then i will be thought of as just another tight assed ozzie. This is my first trip to los, and my first trip overseas, im 19 and will feel a lot more comfortable paying for my drinks one by one.
