...errors.? Lutherans also believe in continued prophecy? I thought that the LDS religion was the only one who did not consider prophecy closed.

The Solid Declaration of the Formula of Concord:
When, by the special grace and mercy of the Almighty, the doctrine concerning the chief articles of our Christian religion (which under the Papacy had been horribly obscured by human teachings and ordinances) had been explained and purified again from [in accordance with the direction and analogy of] God's Word by Dr. Luther, of blessed and holy memory, and the papistic errors, abuses, and idolatries had been rebuked

So, was Martin Luther a prophet of God?

I think he was inspired. He saw hypocrisy in the Catholic church and a discrepancy in the Scriptures compared to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Was he a prophet. No, and he never claimed he was. He got some things right and also introduced some doctrines that aren't correct.

Personally, I think he is amazing and very inspired. He helped to pave the way for the restoration of the fullness of the gospel. I strongly believe he was inspired of God.

When I converted to Mormonism last year, my Lutheran friends jumped my case about the Book of Mormon "adding to the Bible". I did a little bit of research and found out about the Book of Concord. I came back and asked them questions about the Book of Concord and some flaws in their attacks. I received silence, shrugged shoulders, and tumbleweeds rolling down Main Street.

I have been meaning to find time to research the Book of Concord more and what it says and means and the impact it has on the Lutheran faith.

The one bit of information I have retained about the Book of Concord is that some Lutheran pastors must pledge their loyalty to the Book of Concord, which seemed a little strange to me.

A lot of people paved the way and were inspired by God to keep truth alive and allow for spirituality to grow and the restoration to eventually take place.

Was he a Prophet, no because he didnt have that priesthood authority.
Was he divinely inspired at times, probably.

well even I have a problem with the catholi church, praying to Mary and the saints as if they were idols, confessing sins when you can go directly to God for them, all the ceremonial dress for the preists, the templar and secret societies adn why does the pope need to guards the swiss guard and the secret police (MIB's)? The judian priests who train people to get others out of the way when the church needs to progress, and I could go on.
Martin Luther came back to restore like Joseph smith.

There are many churches that said there can be prophets, but only a few (at the time of the foundation of the church) said there were prophets alive.


I don't think Martin Luther ever declared being a prophet or was given the title by anyone.

I remember reading a few years ago an article about the timeline of events leading up to the restoration of the gospel, and that Martin Luther was mentioned. I'm not sure if this is the same article, but I do know it was in the New Era. Hope this helps.
