Evening of Indian Head Massage

I've been qualified for 4 months now and have been finding it hard to get many clients, although one of them has just asked me if I would like to introduce myself and my therapy to a group of her friends at her home one eveningwho are curious to learn more. Obviously, not wanting to turn down prospective clients, I agreed I would. As this is my first and only therapy I carry out, it will be quite daunting to stand upin front of people as I'venever done anything likeit before,but also quite exciting. I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on how to present the evening and the best way to make it a success. I don't intend charging anything, but just hope I may pick up a few clients along the way. Any ideas would be appreciated. Many thanks.

I think you need to look at this as a fantastic opportunity and put 110% in even if they are not paying.

I think you should set the scene. Have wonderfully relaxing music playing in the background,aks your friend to dim the lights (slightly)and alight some candles and dot it round the room - burn some incense or some burners with essential oil - try and make the room relaxing, and inviting. Make sure its not too relaxing as you dont want them noding off half way through your pitch!

Remember they are there to see you so dont be frightened to take control of the evening and relax and enjoy yourself - you are qualified and you know what you are doing. You have worked hard for your exams so show off and show them what you know and what you can do!

Not sure if you had to wear a uniform for your course but if you did - make sure you are wearing it and look professional - like you mean business.

What you could do is leave a leaflet/flyer explaining a bit about your treatment and what it is good for and what they would expect in a treatment plus a price list ( I know its not subtle but it needs to be done!) You could print this out and leave a copy on each persons seat so when they arrive in the room the automatically pick it up to sit down.

Ask your friend to supply water and nibbleson the night as well.

Bring a collection of different pre blended oils that you can use on them and pass them round so people can smell them and explain what each one is for and what it is good for (ie relaxing etc.) You could also bring a collection of different oil bases and explain these as well. You could do (depending on the amount of people you have) a 5-7 min taste session on each person and show everyone a massage movementthat they can do on themselves if they have a headache/neckache etc. (dont show them too many as you want them to come to you). This will show that you know your stuff and once you start talking any thoughts of being nervous will go out the window.

I also think as you dont have any clients you could print up vouchers offeringeach person10% off their first treatment or ifthey have a party in their house where you charge each person they get a free treatment.

Depending on how pushy you will be - bring an appointment book with you - if your would be clients mutter ooh I would love to get one done I must see you - you can say I have an appointments book here and make it there and then! Sometimes you have to be pushy! If you want clients you might have to ask for the sale - they are already getting a free session. At the end of the day you do not want to miss a sale just because you dont want to ask.

Also another great idea is that christmas is just round the corner - you could sell vouchers for Christmas pressies.
