Bullshit on Articulo 123

FB, this is funny, not only I dont remember the Chicas names most times (like Larry). I dont even know which streets I walk on Last month I went looking for Fracas bar, as I read about it briefly on TJA and thought I will try it out before I get FichaFucked in Miami. I went walking up and down 123 since you say Fracas is on that street. Couple of guys came soliciing to sell drugs, immediately followed by 2 cops. Before the cops could question me, I asked them I was looking for Fracas, and they pointed me in the opposite direction. Usually my cold stare backs down most of the "bad" guys. Anyway off I am to Fracas, saw that it was a dump of a bar, may one or two my "type" of girls. But I stuck out like a sore thumb. I thought I will give it a pass, but I have not ruled it out in the future !

You know another street more dangerous than Art 123? It's all those intersections with traffic circles, especially if your a passenger in a car with somebody who drives it the first time screaming! Lucky I had lot of practice driving in circles in Long Beach CA where they also have one traffic circle. In Mexico and Latin America, those types of intersections are quite common.....why I don't know?

Now driving in Tijuana can be extremely dangerous and it's something I try to avoid whenever possible.

Yes Bohemian I look forward to your report " how I survived a walk down ART 123 and lived to talk about it.' But perhaps I'm being a little premature? While your at it, take a look inside Rio Verde, and especially El Fracaso as I popped my head in their recently on a Monday and was impressed with all the chicas, at this hard-core Mexican style bar. I never took a chica out of this bar, maybe you can try it out for me Bohemian, and report back how it is; but it looks like you need a few dance moves, before exiting with a chica. Lots of chicas, mainly plain looking ones, and big ones, but I saw at least 3 or 4 nice looking chicas.

Nothing surprises me anymore Dr Choi, 2nd handles and secret sites.....Yes I'm familiar with a few of those things. Secret sites, Private sites, to me are a waste of time. If you want to do those things, I think blogs would be better.

if you really want to test out articulo123 is have your wallett sticking out from back pocket...

its all mater of luck...its like getting in a car accident, you could be very safe driver but your luck is also determained by other factors..

give it up guys, some streets are safe than other ...and lets leave it to that..

i crossed and drove, walked, ride bicycle around around around TJ ...some place seemd like good place for muggin because it was hidden out of view of rapida but that does not make it dangerious ...its all luck, some guys just had unlucky day.

Fireballs you have written in such depth about the Articulo 123, I am going to propose the mayor to rename it as "Fireballs Street "
Good comparison and perspective of 123 with other streets, so in comparison it is dangerous but not so dangerous as some other more dangerous street (Sorry I am sounding like one of those Seinfeld Characters !)
Ok, next time, I will do a test. I will once again walk that street alone and unarmed between 8 to 10 pm and let youlls know. Well I am an ex Gulf War Army veteran 6 feet plus 200 pounds, a lean and mean machine, but I am not exactly fast at 43 !

i have very strong feeling that many new members or members who has been silent ( non posting members / non loged in members whos account has been their since begaining or least couple years old) at tjamigos are 2nd handles of friend of friends of owner/admins who make up these stories based on previous threads..

it also seems like more posts are posted in hidden forums rather than out in public boards and i am not talking about their other private board in other url...

Redsnake and USENET? Now your going back many years Burt. As you said Revolution and ART 123 changed some since then, they have the arch, wider streets, and more lighting according to you. Back in the days those old prostitution boards would be smaller with hobbyist who knew their craft, Tijuana, and were computer geeks. Today's monger on prostitution boards come from all walks of life, some are hard core season vets, other are newbies. ( this site has lots of newbies) Today is very hard to get notice on prostitution boards, unless you say something dramatic and that's one of the reasons you'll see so much obviously made up bullshit on some of these boards.( next time you see an over-the-top story, look at it very closely like I do, and you'll see the majority of them defy logic, and plain old statistics.

The last story I believed about ART 123 was from another site from Jean Luc, who runs, or ran a few businesses along with an escort business. He said he had a digital camera attached to his belt and someone came from behind and stole it and kept running. He came the very next day and reported it on a site, and you could feel his angry in his posts. i don't think I have heard any other first hand reports in years, except for a few posts recently that go like this: OH yeah, it happens all the time, I saw it at least three times, and it happened to me twice where they came up behind me and did a choke hold. I passed out, and they took my wallet, and then I fucked a puta!( this is just an example of the kind of stories we are suppose to believe, where they are not timely, nor do they have any kind of emotion to them.)

For one thing it's not saying much if he is just talking about the zona. What else is there between REVO and Constitution, you have Coahuila Street where Adelita Bar, Bar Tropical, and Las Chavelas. You also have the Alley where Hong Kong bar is, and all the SGs. If that's the case, I'll agree ART 123 is more dangerous that Coahuila, and the alley, but like I said, that's not saying much. If would be like comparing La Jolla, Rancho Santa Fe, and Carlsbad. Then reporting Carlsbad has has a few reports of crime, so therefore Carlsbad is a very dangerous city! So it looks like we need to compare ART 123 to a few other places to understand it's danger level. How about the bridge from the border to the zona. Is the bridge at night, more dangerous that ART 123? I would say most people who agree the bridge is more dangerous than ART 123, especially at night. I don't even think of the bridge as dangerous during the day, because many people are walking it. However at night, it has the potential of being really dangerous because it's isolated not many people are walking it late at night. Bums are all over and under the bridge especially at night. If you get mugged on the bridge, you also stand the chance of getting tossed over the bridge and into the water! I could go on and on how many more dangerous places there are other than ART 123, which I rate on the danger level about 2 points above a trip to Disneyland.

On Redsnake and USENET groups. (There was time back in the old BB days when guys would get together at El Tourino. Sometimes they'd even put up banners in clubs like CC so they could find each other. Of course, back then you didn't have to worry about chicas knowing about the Internet.)

This isn't the first time some of these stories have been told. If you ever get a chance to read some old websites you'll find there was seldom a month that somebody didn't report being mugged on Articulo 123. (If you doubt me then talk to some guys who were active on the boards in those days.)

As many have said here and in the TJA thread, Articulo 123 (like the ZN in general) is nowhere near as dangerous as it was years ago. I credit street widening and improved lighting for the improvement in safety. These days one only hears of muggings infrequently; however, Articlo 123 between Revolucion and Constituition remains the number one danger spot.


Probably 3-4 times per week, although I was there every day during the past two weeks. There are months and even years that I lived full time in Tijuana.

I agree with you FB and bohmiean about art123.I am in SC LA almost 3nights a week. Last week me and my partner had a stray round fly over are heads.I personal think Tj just gets a bad rap.I am there almost 4 nights a week, I never had the stuff I read online happen to me.{1995 thats when I started going off and on until late 2006, 4 days week since.}

Like you Bohemian walking the streets of Philadelphia, and Detroit pretty rough cities. I walked and drove in some of the worst gettos in Los Angeles, as I use to love picking up black and Mexican street hoes in South Central LA. ( all very rich cities, especially the first two in San Diego country) And then coming to this site and saying San Diego is a very dangerous city, because they heard other people being robbed in San Diego. ( Now San Diego could be dangerous, but it can't come close to a Detroit, so you can let your guard down a little at Sea World) but I guess it's true the majority of people just visit the one street where the mains bars are in Tijuana, the alley, and maybe Revolution? It must be for people to consider ART 123 a very dangerous street.

Burt the problem I have with some of these stories is we hear about it years later as an after thought. One guy claimed he saw three mugging on the street. OK when were those mugging? Time Frame? How often do you go to TJ? The other guy acts like it happens all the time to him, no big deal, and not only does it happen to him, he sees it happens to other guys and he jumps in and defends the guy from the muggers....all 130 pounds of him!! WHERE WERE THESE STORIES WHEN IT HAPPENED? It's like a rape case, the case loses credibility when we hear about it a years later.

Then we get all the conspiracy theories that the cops are in on and share some of the loot after the Mexican gang-bangers do the mugging while the police look the other way. These guys offer no support for their wild accusations.

You know talking about ART 123 is like talking about a UFO. I bet if I went to some sites and said I saw a UFO, 20 other guys would chime in with their stories how they seen UFO too and had contact, along with government conspiracies too?

i walked on articulo123 between revo and ninos heros many many times , even wei hours inthe morning comming back from clubs behind rio verde bar...

if you want to play safer, walk on the street ..not on the side walk.

i had good friend of mine who was attacked in the middle of day also..

i never been attacted in TJ but anything can happen and always use caution or look around when your walking around zona rojo.

Well, I've walked this stretch many times in the past and as recently as a couple of weeks ago when I walked it alone at least three times one night, but have never had any problems. One can't get too complacent, which I'd gotten, so true or not, these stories are a good heads-up and that's always a good thing.

There are some bars on Articulo 123 that primarily cater to locals. Some "good deals" can be found there if you speak Spanish and "know how things work."

I know some of these posters. Guys like El Cochino, Erip, and Bordersushi are long-time, highly respected mongers. I believe them, especially since many of these guys have reported/posted about the problems long before the current TJA thread appeared.

Fireballs, Good long post ! I am now seriously considering to "hire" you for my new newspaper "TJ Tribune" !! Yes, the danger of that street is exaggerated, I remember reading long time ago and I was psyched walking on that street, though I have walked the streets of Philadephia and Detroit downtown at night alone and unarmed ! But I think there is some truth in it. Better to be on guard, but why would someone walk there in the first place, unless got tired of the zona which has enough nut characters in the night !

There have been a rash of people reporting on the dangers of walking Articulo 123, it's by the ARCH where tourism of Revolution ends and the zona begains with the street girls on Constitution. The so-called dangerous is only about 150 yards long, and it's teaming with people at all hours of day and night. From the the start of the street on REVO and ART 123 I counted 25 mariachi singers, there are two hard core Mexican bars like Rio Verde that has all kinds of guys going in and out, along with heavy foot traffic, TJ cops and security guards, and its hard to cross the street as there are so many cars going by.

Yet on other sites we are hearing again that these brazen Mexican rateros, bald-headed cholos are doing choke-holds in broad daylight, and we have reports it's done right in front of the TJ cops and they don't care!

I'm sorry but I'm calling bullshit on about 90% of these posts!!!! Since they put up the arch ART 123 has been very busy, and we haven't been hearing any reports in years, it's just to risky and too crowded for the robbers to do it right in the open like that. I'm not saying it hasn't been done, but what I'm saying it's highly unlikely to be done with so many witnesses, and the TJ cops are a lot of things, corrupt and after money, but they also do their job. If they saw a crime committed they would put on the chase. In fact I see TJ cops running down somebody just about every trip. I never see US cops chasing anybody like the TJ cops do.

Reading some of these report don't seem to stand up to close scrutiny. for example one guy claims his wallet is stolen with all his money and he went to TJ alone. Yet he agreed to stay over night to help prosecute the robbers. He wrote he borrowed money from someone? Who lends money in TJ? Later he claims he got some of the money back from the police after they caught the robbers! ( would the TJ cops just hand over the money to him?)

When these types of reports come in, then others quickly follow. Guys who have been on boards for years, then says, yes I was robbed twice on ART 123! How come we only hear about it now? You know if I was robbed it certainly would stand out to me. I would be on this site telling you guys about it the next day, and the story would at least make sense and not have holes in them like so many of these stories.

I'm sorry there are just too many 'attention whores' on these sites to take these stories seriously. I guess you can get robbed any place in Mexico, but calling ART 123 between Revolution and Constitution one of the most dangerous streets in Tijuana is a joke, and only shows you don't travel too many street in Tijuana when you visit. It's almost as bad when you hear the Street girl alley is one of the most dangerous streets in the world, according to a sex trafficking article I was reading the other day.

Personally, I'm always cautious and know who is behind me at all times, and if something doesn't feel right, I'll cross the street, and let them get ahead of me, because there are many dangerous areas in Tijuana, but ART 123 isn't one of them, unless you go down 3 or 4 blocks.


So lets here you ART 123 stories, first hand reports I hope.
